In June 2019 James and I went to Karavelovo, Bulgaria, to the Rose Valley music and dance workshop hosted by Donka and Nikolay Kolev. It was a wonderful week of traditional Bulgarian music, dance and food, with around 20 participants. Each evening, a group from a neighboring village would show up in their costumes for a celebration. Everybody danced together. James learned tambura and I learned to hoot and we were both amazed by the storks living in the village.
